The Dawn of Artificial Intelligence on the Blockchain

For most adults, we've heard of the term artificial intelligence. We've grown up with personal computers, video games, and now even on-line banking. We may even understand that in some way, there is artificial intelligence built into every computer program or digitial process. According to wikipedia, artificial intelligence is "the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages." It's a proposition that has been gaining speed and interest for a while. What started off as simplistic permutations afforded by calculators and adding machines has given birth to systems that track our behaviors on-line, store our information on facebook and instagram, and much much more. The idea that robots would some day crawl the earth with the ability to speak, think, and work is no longer science fiction. Engineers and computer scientists all over the world are making notional concepts real... And now it's happening on the blockchain.

In this article, I want to focus on a project called Person Artificial Intelligence also known as PAI. You can learn more about PAI at https://projectpai.com. Could it be possible to actually create an artificial intelligence that emulates every individual on the planet?
Is it plausible that one day we could all have our own digital representative that looks, acts, thinks, performs, and interacts the way we would? If we have a digital representative, could it make decisions on our behalf? How could this be achieved? What are the implications of such technology? There's so many questions we could ask. But it's no longer a notional idea. In fact, that's exactly what project PAI represents... the creation of digital avatars that look, think, and interact as we would. We have finally gotten to the point where we are moving beyond digital signatures and are now exploring the digitization of our very being on the blockchain. In many ways, it's a frightening proposition. Imagine your likeness imprinted on the blockchain... Imagine your digital likeness interacting on your behalf. The technology has arrived.

Take a look at this excerpt from the executive summmary of the PAI project white paper... "The peak of artificial intelligence is almost here, but with several limitations: current AI is only developed for a narrow, task-specific domains, is prohibitively resource-intensive, and thus is heavily influenced by and for the interests of a select number of industry leaders. For these reasons Project PAI is developing an open-source blockchain protocol to decentralize AI development for everyone. The foundation for an interoperable AI blockchain starts from the ground up firstly with creating AI for the individual" This is perhaps one of the most ambitious blockchain projects I have come across. It signifies an attempt to inscribe us on the blockchain... It sounds like the precursor to creating holographic emulations of ourselves that will live on well after we have actually died. I.E. Every Superman and Star Wars movie referencing artificial intelligence beings based on individuals who are no longer alive is now no longer science fiction. The technology is here. The idea that a digital entity representing you because it is you is no longer notional. The technology is here.

When I first learned about this, I was blown away. It didn't appear real. It sounded unreal. Come on, blockchain technology driving artificial intelligence to create personal artificially intelligence beings... That's got to be bull right? Right? Well, now I don't know whether to be excited, or afraid. One thing is for sure, I hope I never hear about some PAI of myself using my debit card!
